Short answer: decide the four destinations before the camera turns on. A repurposing engine is a production decision, not an editing task you attempt afterwards.

Why most repurposing produces filler

Taking a finished sixty-second video and cropping it into three formats gives you the same idea three times. The audience on each platform came for a different reason, so the same idea arrives at the wrong depth.

The alternative is to plan one production around one question, then cut four assets that each answer a different part of it: the proof, the how, the objection, the result.

Plan the destinations first

  • Website article: the full answer, structured so search and AI can quote it.
  • Short video: the single most surprising thirty seconds.
  • Carousel or image post: the steps, one per frame.
  • Sales material: the objection handled, in language a salesperson can send directly.

Write those four lines into the brief before booking anything. If a destination has no distinct job, cut it.

Shoot and write for reuse

Small production decisions decide whether reuse is cheap later.

  • Record clean audio separately; it becomes the podcast or the voiceover.
  • Shoot wide and tight of the same moment so vertical crops do not lose the subject.
  • Capture the process, not just the result. Process footage answers how, which is what most buyers actually ask.
  • Write the article first. It becomes the script, the captions and the brief for everything else.

Publish the canonical version on your own site

Platforms borrow attention; the website keeps it. Publish the full version where you own the URL, then link back from every platform copy.

When the same text appears in several places, tell search engines which one counts. Google explains the mechanics in its guide to consolidating duplicate URLs. For guest posts and syndication, a canonical link to your original protects the page you actually control.

Measure the engine, not the posts

Judge the system by whether it produced qualified conversations, not by whether one clip went wide. Tag every platform link so the source arrives with the lead, and read the report at the level of the production, not the individual asset. The event setup is in GA4 events for lead generation.

A realistic cadence

One production a fortnight, four assets each, is more valuable than daily posting that nobody reviews. One sprint format is described in how to plan a content sprint, and the approval model that keeps it safe is in what an inbound content system needs before AI.
